function of 2 related white cell populations of the blood, the granulocytes and the monocytes-macrophages. CSF-1 induces cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage.
It plays a role in immunological defenses, bone metabolism, lipoproteins clearance, fertility and pregnancy.
