Welcome to the DracoBase prototype. This prototype is intended to serve as a starting point for a discussion about bioinformatics tools in Geniverse.
Genes that produce heritable phenotypes are annotated with phenotype terms from a very small controlled vocabulary accessible through the
Phenotype Term Search.
There are also Gene Models for all of the genes with heritable phenotypes, as well as Gene Models for many additional genes.
Gene Models include the predicted transcript, the predicted protein product, and an alignment of the protein product to that of mouse.
There is Molecular Function annotation imported from the mouse gene.
If there is an associated human disease, there is a brief entry on the disease.
The gene models are from various non-mammalian vertebrates as indicated in the table below.
As many as possible are from Anolis carolinensis, the remainder are from stickleback, zebrafish and chicken.
I have added many additional gene models that are not currently posted on the writeboard Genes and Traits for Drakes 2.

Heritable Phenotypes & Gene Models |
The report
Heritable Phenotypes Associated with Gene Models contains all Heritable Alleles in Geniverse, associated with the appropriate Gene Model.
This is a resource for developers that will not be seen by student users.
Students will merge Heritable Phenotypes with Gene Models by constructing arguments from evidence acquired by sequencing mutant alleles.
Several examples are described on the
demo page.
